Copper and Kings Double Barrel American Brandy Chicago Exclusive Volume 2
The Schtick: “Make Mine A Double is a Double Album. Because we needed more space, and notes, to shine a light on the expansive promise of American Brandy. It’s a concept album. We think you will like it. It’s adventurous, it’s bold, and each American Brandy volume is singular and individual. The concept – take 2 individual American Brandy barrels – 1x Ex-Bourbon barrel & 1x medium-char New American oak barrel & then uniquely marry blends at different percentages and finish off in different ways to illustrate brandy’s inherent character stretch.” – Copper and Kings site. This is Volume 2. If you missed [Volume 1’s review, here it is](https://t8ke.review/review-1178-copper-and-kings-double-barrel-american-brandy-chicago-exclusive-volume-1/). Let’s dive in.
Nose: Nougat, nutty, musty tobacco, toffee. Very different from Volume 1. Much nuttier, a lot less oak. Sweeter – loads more caramel.
Taste: Sweet – loaded with honey and vanilla. Powerful caramel, ethanol, vanilla. Medium mouth feel, a bit hotter than the first.
Finish: Short to medium in length, a bit more heat here but really complex. Loaded with caramel, clove, honey, tobacco and amaretto.
Overall: Not as good as Volume 1 but still very surprising. I don’t know how touching FEW spirit didn’t destroy this, but the brandy held its own and really shines.
