Review #1897 | Tequila Review #20
Distiller: Tequilena SA de CV
Bottler: Don Fulano
Brand: Don Fulano
Selection:
ABV: 40% ABV
Age: 8 Months
Nose: Bright agave notes, a gummy bear sweetness. Not artificial, but the profile is effervescent, really pops, combining candy sweetness, papaya, biscuits, pepper and a touch of varnish. Sweet lemon zest.
Taste: Sweet on the palate, naturally so, with a great mouthfeel. Pepper, the faintest wisp of ash smoke. Vanilla bean, cream, some pepper, a guava note. Oak is there, more than I’d expect, but it works.
Finish: Medium finish. Pepper, brown sugar, roasted agave. A bit of dough, clove, vanilla bean. Notes of caramel, brown butter.
Overall: A rep with some oaky attitude and it works. Big fan of the complexity here.
