ABV: 40% ABV
Age: 8 Years
Nose: Caramel, some ethanol. Vanilla, molasses, mild fruity funk.
Taste: Thin, oaky and sweet. Theres not a lot going on here and the oak is weirdly dominant with some thin astringency.
Finish: Short, sweet and faintly oaky. Overripe banana, confectioners sugar, funky sour tannins.
Overall: I was surprised how strange this was compared to the XO and the 12yr. The oak was also more poorly prominent here compared to the 12yr also. Hmmm. Still a great value, but with all three on the shelf, Id soon rather reach for the 12 or XO first.
