Lunazul Primero

The Schtick: Aged for 18 months and then filtered to remove color, Lunazul Primero is a new release that aims to hopefully jump on the Cristilano bandwagon – a new hot trend in agave.

Review #1981 | Tequila Review #31

Distiller: Tierra de Agave

Bottler: Tierra de Agave

Brand: Lunazul

Selection:

ABV: 40% ABV

Age: 18 Months

Nose: Sweet agave on the nose, citrus like lemon and orange. Honey, a bit of pepper, some light cream and funk.

Taste: Thin on the palate. Not a ton going on here, a bit of cream, honey, light pepper and some rising bread. Pretty devoid of complexity, though it goes down easy with no perceptible ethanol.

Finish: Short finish, again not a ton happening. Light agave character, some cream and pepper, then it’s gone.

Overall: All in all, while there are no major flaws here, there’s so little tequila character after filtering that this makes for a pretty unremarkable pour.

Thanks for reading!
