Maguey Melate Berta Vasquez Mexicano

The Schtick: Distilled by Berta Vasquez, this bottling is distilled from Mexicano Verde. Distilled on copper, this expression promises to be pretty interesting as a bottle part of the Feb/March Maguey Melate club box. Let’s dive in.

Review #1788 | Mezcal Review #157

Distiller: Berta Vasquez

Bottler: Maguey Melate

Brand: Maguey Melate

ABV: 45.5% ABV

Age: NA

Nose: Cotton candy, gumball candies, soil, salinity, vanilla bean and limestone

Taste: Rich on the palate, bursting with juicy fruitiness, more candy sweetness, pears, apple, kiwi. Salinity, ash, a hint of clay. Decadent and enticing.

Finish: Long, supple and crammed full of flavor. Ash, fruits and vibrant dessert character meet a cotton candy uniquness and minerality of the likes I”ve not seen in a Mexicano for some time.

Overall: Im mad I only bought one. Really fucking mad
